Do I need rekordbox?
No. Solco writes the USB drive itself, in the rekordbox format Pioneer players read. If you still use rekordbox, Solco can import its library, and rekordbox keeps working as before. It is also much quicker at writing the drive: see the test.More in the help centre
Is Solco a rekordbox alternative?
For preparing your music, yes. Solco does the DJ library management, from beatgrids, keys and tags to duplicates and playlists, and writes the USB your CDJs and XDJs read, on macOS, Windows and Linux. It isn't for performing: you don't mix in Solco, you play from the USB on the players. If you still use rekordbox, both can add to the same drive, each keeping the other's playlists.More in the help centre
Can I still organise my library my own way?
Yes. Your folders, playlists, cues, grids and tags stay exactly as you set them. Solco adds its readings next to yours. It writes two things into your files by itself: an ID tag, so it can follow a file you move, and its key, so your other apps and players show the same key. Turn key writing off, or put your files' own keys back, in Settings › Analysis. Every other tag waits for you. Do as much by hand as you like, or none of it.More in the help centre
Which players read the drive?
Any Pioneer DJ or AlphaTheta player that reads the rekordbox Device Library (export.pdb), from the CDJ-2000 to the CDJ-3000, XDJ-XZ and XDJ-RX3. I have played Solco USBs on the XDJ-RX3, CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-2000 and XDJ-1000MK2. Players that read only the newer OneLibrary (the CDJ-3000X, XDJ-AZ, OPUS-QUAD and OMNIS-DUO) are not covered yet. Tell me what you play on when you sign up.More in the help centre
What comes over from my rekordbox library?
Playlists, folders, hot cues, memory cues, loops, ratings and colours. Beatgrids stay behind, because Solco grids every track itself. Your rekordbox library is only read, never changed.More in the help centre
Is my music uploaded?
No. Every analysis runs on your computer. The optional playlist assistant looks things up in your library step by step and proposes a plan, a folder of playlists you review before you create it, or a change to a playlist you already have, which you review before it is made. Sending it a message shares your request, the conversation, and the names and details of the tracks and playlists it looks up with Solco's service. Never audio or file paths.More in the help centre
What does it cost?
The beta is free, and your licence key renews itself while the beta lasts. New builds with fixes come out often. The price of the full release is not set yet; people on the waitlist hear it first.More in the help centre
Which computers does it run on?
macOS on Apple Silicon, Windows and Linux. Intel Macs are not supported.More in the help centre
What does private beta mean?
Solco is early, and it works only with a licence key made for you. Join the waitlist, and when there is a seat your personal key comes by email. Activate it once while online, on up to three of your computers; after that Solco works offline, and renews your key by itself while the beta lasts. I let DJs in small groups, read every message, and ship updates often. Keep a backup of your music, as you always should.More in the help centre
